La Classica di Primavera

Last Sunday, our clocks sprung ahead.

Now, whilst Spring is officially March 20th, la classica di Primavera is this Sunday with the ... 104th Milan San Remo.

Our money's on Peter Sagan. And, after witnessing the fuggitivi heroics of Sagan-Rodriguez-Nibali on stage 6 of Tirreno, this trio can be at the finish in San Remo. The Poggio will prove to be the final launch point for the remaining strong favorites.

Twenty-three year old Peter Sagan is one, if not the most complete classics rider since Eddy Merckx. His Cannondale team comes loaded for bear in search of the ultimate classic treasure. A fourth year professional, his talent is like a conductor waving or flexing his arms at victory. He knows how to handle sprint expert's Greipel and Cavendish by winning the 2012 Tour Green Jersey. And, recently in Tirreno, the Terminator bested both on stage three.

The three amigos, S-R-N are our picks ahead of notables: Haussler, Hushovd, Gilbert, Dagenkolb, Ciolek, Boonen, Boasson Hagen, Cavendish, Goss, Cancellara and Greipel. Not only you have to be strong, you must factor in - crashes, punctures, tactics and luck.

At this time of writing, the weather forecast is for rain or snow ... add that as a deciding factor to this epic race.

The longest race.

One more time...

An exciting finish for Gerrans!
