Season 3 Stage 8: Revolution

Something's amiss!

It's turning into another epic battle, this time not in a Grand Tour. The sport's governing body, UCI is taking on the Rough Ride author, Paul Kimmage. Let's clarify this; president Pat McQuaid and former president Hein Verbruggen are suing ex-Sunday Times journalist Paul Kimmage for defamation.

Last year The Sunday Times and L'Equipe published Kimmage's interview with Floyd Landis suggesting the UCI was in collusion in protecting Lance Armstrong. The UCI is going after Kimmage, personally, and not against the publishers of the article.

Thanks to nyvelocity.com, for setting up the Paul Kimmage defense fund to help him in his legal battle against the UCI. As of now, just over $50,000 has been raised.

The people have spoken and will continue so...

Stage 8 starts out this way in support for Paul Kimmage. We also have the defense fund Chipin prominently located on our blog. If you can, please show your support for truth in sport by your donation.

Is there actual bike racing going on? Yes. The exciting cycling season is coming to an end and we talk about the rise and fall of Philippe Gilbert. The rise of Joaquim Rodriguez. And, we look at our Canadians; Ryder Hesjedal, Svein Tuft, Christian Meier and Michael Barry.

We thank our sponsors; Road Holland, Red Dots Cycling and Paved Magazine. And, notably Red Dots Cycling is featured in Bicycling.com,  '12 Stylish Cycling Caps' starring the classic Brits Winter Cycling Cap!

Two particular books are of interest: Rough Ride by Paul Kimmage and My year in top gear by Philippe Gilbert are discussed. And, not to forget we happily wash it down with a very special Belgian beer.

Enjoy our, pardon the pun, 'rough' ride on stage 8!
