Happily it's... Classics Time!
The 2012 cycling season begins with tomorrow's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (Ghent Ghent) and Sunday's Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.
It's distinctively Belgian cycling, with the upcoming and much anticipated double weekend to kick off the classic races. Thrown in many punishing pave, steep bergs, foul weather (crossing my fingers), heroic riding and perhaps a dark horse winner will create the excitement we all crave.
That's what Guy and I are all about on Stage 2, as we ride on the pave and talk classic racing with our particular Flandrian favorites in mind.
We proudly showcase the new M: 25 and la Francaise cycling caps by Red Dots Cycling. These two handmade caps have exquisite detailing available at reddotscycling.ca
The Classics equals the classic Road Holland jerseys, thanks again to Richard and Jonathan!
And thanks to Velopress for sending us an advance copy of the revealing, Slaying The Badger by Richard Moore. This book is the in-depth fight between Hinault and LeMond that's destined to become a classic presented by Guy.
Another fine book, that we're currently reading, is Pedalare! Pedalare! by historian John Foot of the history of the Giro d'Italia.
My home town is Calgary and one of it's many merits is Big Rock brewery, so from the trusty fridge, we're trying a new brew from Alberta.
As this season gets under way we look toward March Madness and review Milan San Remo and Paris Nice.
A classic time!
